FRANCE 3 "VAQUI" PROGRAM WITH ANDRÉ ABBE filmed in Roquebrune sur ARGENS

"1984. These images are obtained from slides.
Back then, the slide was king. But its reign came to an end with the arrival of digital after 2000.
In this photo, I'm at home, sorting through the slides from my last trip to Kilimanjaro."

BEHIND THE CAMERA and photo archives

What you see here is the past, untouched!

A former journalist and photographer, now retired, I come from the town of Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in the Var region (83). Proud of my 50-year career, I've had the opportunity to travel internationally, capturing moments of life in France, Europe, Asia, South America and Oceania.

From 1970 to 2000, I archived over 100,000 photos of my travels, Provence and, in particular, my hometown of Roquebrune and the surrounding area. These photos are the result of a passion and a photographic heritage that I'd like to bring back to life through this site. To give new life to rare archives that are little known to the general public.

My photos are also on display in the historic Abbe House in Roquebrune, which has been in the family for 4 generations. This 16th-century, three-storey house is home to L'oubradou de la fouant (workshop of the fountain), where images and paintings of Provence are exhibited. The paintings are by artist Patricia Gourier, who has chosen our studio as her artistic home.
