Who are the lovers of Provence?

Since 2015, the Passadoc association has made Provence known. The French and sometimes the Provencal are used to publish the Hebdo Gazette. But where are the lovers of Provence outside our borders? The Abbe Photo Association proposes to explore...

From Passadoc to Abbe Photo: 9 years in retro

In 2014, Passadoc was launched to release the Provence photo archive.

In 2021, another association was created: Abbe Photo makes the archives of André Abbe live through books, exhibits and social networks. The new association has lots of projects and needs funding. How do we do it?

The urgent need to save the photo heritage of André Abbe

The archive of André is 100,000 photos between 1970 and 2000. Many of these photos make sense with André's story. Sometimes there is even a historical context. André celebrates his 80th birthday in 2024. There is an urgent need to digitize and document them. Passadoc and Abbe Photo are so much more "fun" ways of carrying out this long-term work.

2030 target: find a patron for Abbe Photo

Initially a photographer, André began his career by selling photos to UNESCO in 1970. Photo of a castle between 1973 and 2018 - Photo by André Abbe

Heritage Days 2021 and 2022, two exhibitions in the Abbe house in Roquebrune on Argens (Var). Who's funding? The sale of books finances part of it. But the biggest part is funded by André and François Abbe, as well as Patricia Gourier.

Now what? 2030 target: finding a patron. And until then? Make Abbe Photo known.

Where to find the future patron?

In France, André Abbe is one of the authors of Passadoc. Passadoc is available in French and sometimes in Provencal on Facebook. Since 2021, the Passadoc Gazette has been offering selected songs every Saturday on the Abbe Photo site. Passadoc, therefore, already offers great visibility to Francophones.

Abroad, it's different.

Are Anglophones more passionate about Provence than the Provençals?

For 8 years, Passadoc has published in French and sometimes in Provencal.

What to do for foreign tourists? English seems obvious to publicize the photos of André Abbe abroad.

Have three Provencal, French and English languages coexist.

The bet's on. Passadoc continues to publish the various authors on its Facebook page and in the Gazette.

Abbe Photo launches English publications on the Facebook page Abbe Photo. There are texts and photos of André Abbe as well as nods to other authors.
