The Hebdo 129
The chefs' kitchen!
A few weeks ago, we briefly told the story of the cookbook [L-hebdo 124]. Today we enter in The kitchen where we find... cooks of course!
When – millions of years ago – man acquires control of the fire, he is the one who cooks the fawn or cervid he brings back from his hunt. The woman and the children wait a little further...
But thousands of years later, it's the opposite! Women have the immense happiness of « cooking every day » while men and children are patient in front of « Strange skylights »happy when they finally hear:
– At the table!
– Hit! Some will say with good reason and perhaps a bit of rage! Come on... it's just to smile because today's life and modern single parent families are gradually erasing these images of the last century.
However, it is an undeniable fact: in the kitchen, the chefs have long been men. They work for the great bourgeois, for the monarchs. They are called Jean Vefour, Guillaume Tirel, François Vatel...
An Internet search gives today a list of more than 200 great names of French cuisine among which Alain Ducasse, born in Castelsarrasin... Jean-Luc Rabanel, born in Villeneuve-sur-Lot... Jacques Manière, born in Dordogne...
Few women, a little 40. Let's remember only: Eugénie Brazier – nicknamed the mother Brazier, born in Ain, one of the mothers of Lyon's corks, the first woman to get three stars in Michelin – Paulette Casting (Nîmes), Marie Rougier (Bergerac), Nicole Fraagegaltier (Aveyron), ...
– Where are our cooks?
Patience... here they are!

Saint-Véran
A village that awakens many memories among readers of Passadoc.
André Abbe
Saint-Véran, the highest village in Europe, in Queyras.
I haven't been back since the summer of 1976. I hear the village has changed a lot.
Good Saint Veran, don't let this village change too much!
As I went up to the pastures of the Pass of Peas, I met Sylvain, a shepherd of Roquebrune who came uphill. Sure you know him.
I've been here all summers for a long time and sometimes autumn and spring; He's been able to keep his d-antan.

In about a hundred pages abundantly illustrated,
André Abbe tells his native village and the life of an old family of farmers.
A neat publication: flap cover and sewn notebooks (it's so rare today!),
Everything is done to make reading enjoyable.
