Description

Provence is full of stereotypes and preconceived ideas. This photo is different. It immortalizes scenes from life in the Provencal village of Roquebrune sur Argens in 1979. A major difference: this photo is taken from the inside, on the spot. The inhabitants of Roquebrune sur Argens might have refused to be photographed. André Abbe is different: André is one of them, born in the village, from an old farming family.

This collection is part of the book " Roquebrune en images". It's the view of a photojournalist who has traveled the world without ever leaving his native village for long.
The photographer's eye, the journalist's pen, the stories of a native of Roquebrune-sur-Argens (Var).

Reviews of Abbe Photo products

A richness... Memory... A common story, the love of this village and the soul of the deceased... A huge emotion for me...

Sabine A.

I didn't know Roquebrune. It made me want to discover these surroundings and its rock. But beyond a place, I went through an era: the intergenerational mixtures of the past, the bonfires of Saint John and the village festivals and their floats... So many good memories...

Clement C.

Each photo, all the texts project me back to when I accompanied my parents and grandparents in all the work in the fields (especially the harvest). It is a hymn to the "true", with deep roots. Delicious Proust's madeleines, which make you feel good.

Giselle P.L.

They're talking about the book Roquebrune en images !

It is the memory of our region.

Eric C.

A nice and moving ride season after season, which we really can't get enough of.

Frédérique M.

Under the sun of Provence, a small village between the Mediterranean and Argens. To remember.

Jean-Pierre V.
