We used the smugglers. Some were whimsical and there were many stories:

The bridge of the island of Re, 3,000 meters long, culminating at 42 m above the sea... the Pont d'Avignon on which beautiful ladies and beautiful messengers danced in circles! (920 m and 22 arches ; construction started in 1177 completed 8 years later).

These are viaducts, such as Milliau viaducts (2004) and Garabit viaducts (2004).* of which the construction site is opened in 1880 and completed in 1884.

My photo dates back to the past century... Here we are in autumn, the best season for photographers.

This landscape of a canal, not far from Montauban, would be commonplace in any other season. But the golden leaves on the trees and floating on the surface of the canal give it a romantic character.

In one of his songs, I no longer know which one, Jacques Brel declares « ... A canal hung. ». Surprising formula.

Where would this modest canal hang? What tributary of the Garonne had he left? I forgot.

My friend Gilbert Henry

Son of a winegrower and winegrower myself in my early years, I continue to be interested in the world of wine and the occasion to drink it, less than in the past.

I always read what is written on the labels of the bottles. It's been a long time since I read the word « Cooperative » on one of these, as if the wine of the cooperatives was by nature of lower quality than the wines of private estates. I know excellent wines produced in cooperatives. I won't give any names, we don't advertise.

When I wrote for the agricultural press in the 1970s and 1980s, »often had the opportunity to accompany the late Gilbert Henry, who was mayor of Rougiers (Var) and president of the Regional Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives, on report. His enthusiasm was communicative. I admired it a lot.

Many villages owed their prosperity to their cooperative.

Des regroupements ont eu lieu, beaucoup de coopératives ont disparu mais la coopération conserve toute sa place dans l’agriculture régionale.
