His name was Ernest...
– His name was Ernest...
- You mean Ernest of Martigues?
- No... I want to talk about Ernest Hemingway and his love for our area... to the point of spending his honeymoon there when he married Pauline Pfeiffer in 1927.
He stayed in the Grau-du-Roi, which was then only a fishing village. Hemingway already knows the Gard... He is an aficionado, a regular of the arenas of Nîmes; He is seduced by the beautiful Camargue landscapes and goes by bicycle to the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer to attend the pilgrimages.
In December 1949, the writer returned to spend a few days in the Grau-du-Roi. « I've always loved this treatment », he writes to his publisher.
– Maybe I'd better not be a fisherman, He thought. But what else could I have done? *

The blacksmiths
Lots of memories and emotion.

I am fascinated by ironwork with this mystical aspect of metal work by fire, legends of magic swords, knights...
But I do not master and feel much better in the scents and lines of wood its natural heat to the touch.
Francis Brun told me the anecdotes of his Ferronier life with Mr. Fontvieille and I listened to him with so much precision in the analysis of the atmospheres of the era and the quality of memory.
I asked him if he could help me make my own sword because he had kept a complete workshop with forge, anvil, hammers, leather aprons, the time when I was passionate about medievals and he had not felt the strength to show me perhaps he thought it would be his job to work iron.
At the end of his days he sadly confessed that he regretted not having responded favourably to my request and that it would have been a great adventure to live.
Well, I stop there, my eyes betray me, and my throat drowns. Snoring the forges d Francis, where you are.
Gas pump...
Prices were displayed, motorists activated at the pumps, number 6 was available; Everything seemed to be best at Esso Express station in Muy (Var).
