In the footsteps of Provence's shepherds" exhibition with photos by André Abbe
Tourism and Media Library
1, cours Théodore Bouge 83690 Salernes, Provence, France
September 14, 2024 to January 26, 2025
Why are these photos different? Because André Abbe wears two hats: that of journalist (France TV, Radio France, print media...) and that of farmer.
After all, André began his career, like his ancestors, as a winegrower.
So when André meets the other farmers, the bonds are strong. André Abbe speaks Provençal very well. It's also an asset in facilitating meetings.
The result? Behind each of these photos is a real story. These are heritage photos, as Geneviève Bresc, now retired director of sculpture at the Musée du Louvre, explains.
This exhibition is organized by Dracénie Provence Verdon in partnership with the Abbe Photo association.

Who is André Abbe
Biography of photographer and journalist
Daniel Bizien tells the story of his friend, photographer and journalist André Abbe.
But where does André Abbe's almost boundless intellectual curiosity come from? Perhaps because he was born in Roquebrune/Argens during the Provence Landings in August 1944.
