Birds...
Whether they are cities, fields or seas, whether they fly from pages of a book or pop up screens, birds are part of life...
- The early morning ones, so talkative in the spring... They say they're getting married... They'll build a nest... They're gonna have kids!
- The sparrows of the streets... which tirelessly beak the invisible crumbs of which are dotted the city sidewalks...
- Red-throat, which closely follows the gardener... And the storks that deliver the newborns!
- The gravelots of the beaches, always in a hurry, moving only as a family...
- The geese that take Nils Holgersson away*The hero of our childhood readings...
- « Birds » "Alfred Hitchcock, so cruel when they attack kids and kids on the way to school...
- The one who shares the freshness of the wind and the dust of the sun that also paints Monsieur Prévert...
Paint a cage first
With an open door
Paint then
Something nice
Something simple
Something beautiful
Something useful for the bird
In a garden
In a wood
Or in a forest
Hide behind the tree
Without saying anything
Without moving
But it may as well take many years
Before you decide
Do not discourage
Wait
Wait if necessary for years

And then there's our tables!
« The shutters are half closed. In the dark, the mistress of the house puts on the table the cassolette, fraying with the drop of old armagnac. The guests then engage in a strange ritual. The head covered with a large towel, they grab a bird. A roasted ortolan. In silence, only the cracking of the bones resonates. »
Ortolans or grives:
By presenting this photo of a skewer of grive, I know I'm going to be unhappy. To be careful, I don't give the cook's name!
Lei turn... aco m-agrado!... [I like the grives!]
If any hunters read me...

The cowboy! - Passadoc

This photo of October 1993 shows three enclosures. Sheep in the former must go to the « not forcat » where only one of them can pass at once.
Bernard Bellini operates a door that directs the sheep in the left or right enclosures, depending on the mark on her back. Each owner thus finds his animals when he returns from the mountain where they spent the summer and early autumn.
If three breeders have joined forces, a second visit to the « not forcat ». I use the Provencal name because I don't know how to call this installation in French!

Crossing... we could also say « bottleneck ». It is useful for a lot in livestock farming: marking, sorting as here for belonging but also to separate the sick from the healthy, the young rams to castrate sheep, sometimes associated with a forced bath for external treatment (rather seen for cattle).
This technique allows us to know if the whole herd has been treated... So do vaccinations. It is a term and a technique that applies to many situations.

Peire Pascal, who died in 2016 (left in the picture) is one of my favourite singers, not for the quality of her voice but for her texts. He has also translated into Spanish songs by Brassens that Paco Ibanez sings (right).
I found songs that my mother sang to me. « Cambo mi fa maou », « Tanto Cougourdeto », « Plou, plou la gallino »...thanks for these Proust madeleines!

[A rocky voice like his tumultuous Verdon, a clear voice like the stars to which he was so close when, for his ten years, he was making the shepherd, a soft voice of lullaby to sleep his little baby, a drunken voice lost in the mountain of Cheiron, a voice of pies singing in the plumer of l ́aire, a loveful voice for the beautiful lady who comes to embalm his autumnal path...]

Hat!
– Is pagat lo capèu? (Did you pay the hat?)
This is the question that we ask, in a cordial tone, to a person who wears an extravagant, bizarre or outrageously chic hat.
To her to answer « Päs me under, camera » (Not with your sous, camel) or something like that!
At the end of Colorado (southwestern USA), I had photographed this man wearing a hat. « cow boy », backed by a wall of the bus station, in a very cinematic posture.
« Is pagat lo capèu? » …

N’aurait pu suffire
C’est pas lui non plus
L’aquilon joufflu
C’est pas pour autant
L’autan
Non, mais c’est le plus fol
Et le plus magistral
De la bande à Éole
En un mot, le mistral
