Forward the music!
Cabrette or bagpipe? Like, no doubt, it's a bagpipe.
The bagpipe is mentioned in Greece and Egypt. Aristophane (circa – 486 -350) mocks and Procope (circa 500 – 565) claims that the instrument accompanied the march of the Roman legions... « claims » There is no reference to this.
But what one would probably never know is who – the first – had this strange idea:
– I'll sew a bag using a beast skin and I'll add two woods hollow (1) : one in which I will blow very hard, inflating the bag... the other one I will use as a pipe !
Anyway, today, the bagpipe is present on almost the entire globe: Scotland, France, Spain, Turkey, Romania, Georgia, Latin America, North Africa, India, ... There are nearly 100 models worldwide. It is said to have been born in the eastern Mediterranean basin more than 3,000 years ago.

Don't confuse bagpipe and cabrette. The cabrette player does not blow in his instrument which may eventually allow him to sing at the same time. He fills the pocket of his instrument with regular movements with an arm.
I forgot the name of this talented ensemble of bagpipes heard in the cloister of the Abbey of the Chair-God in 2009. If I lost the name, I lost the notebook on which it was written!
Over the years, I've had more and more trouble finding it. Does anyone among you know him?
